Compare like with like
For textiles, check the composition, seams, and size; for coffee, the packaging, grind, and date; for tableware, its purpose and integrity. If a seller offers a set, ask how many items it contains. A price per package and a price per item can easily create a false impression of a discount.
Set the selected sample aside and check that it is the one packed for you. For several purchases, ask to see the final total before handing over the money. Do not calculate change in your head in a hurry among different banknotes.
Bargain without conflict
Ask whether another price is possible and name the amount you are genuinely ready to pay. If there is no agreement, calmly end the conversation. A theatrical argument and pressure do not make the purchase better.
